Recap
The World Boardgaming Championships are help every year in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Lancaster is a convention town in north eastern PA, about an hour out of Philly. The drive from Toronto or from Waterloo is about 8 hours so a plan is needed with regards to when to leave. Last year WBC started on a Tuesday (this year it starts on a Monday) with precons the previous weekend. Events started at 6pm on Tuesday with a game auction held during the morning and afternoon on Tuesday. Pounder and I both took the whole week off work but decided to leave early Tuesday morning instead of going down a day early.
Last year three of us went to WBC; Pounder, Robb, and myself. Robb flew in from Seattle and Pounder and I drove. Well, Pounder drove and I pretended to be a GPS. But I'm getting ahead of myself...
So we were going to drive down, but I live in Toronto and Pounder lives in Waterloo. It's about the same distance from either spot, but if Pounder came by on Tuesday morning it would add an extra hour to the trip. The plan ended up being he'd come into Toronto on Monday and go back to Waterloo and I'd crash on the couch. I grabbed the games I thought I'd play at WBC and away we went. I believe I ended up taking just Queen's Gambit and Vegas Showdown. I also packed up my bed (an air mattress to use in the hotel) my razor and a week's worth of clothes.
That night I end up staying up watching Ghostbusters on one of the movie networks Pounder has. I don't have tv myself and I don't miss it one bit. It's just a big ol' time sink without much benefit. Watching Ghostbusters really didn't accomplish anything but I couldn't help myself!
