Bridge Match 1 - Board 47

Board 47 – Dealer South – NS Vul

My hand: A 3 7 5 3 2 Q T 6 5 4 T 7

East opens 1 spade in 4th chair. I pass, as does West, and partner bids 1NT which I guess has to show a balanced 11-12 count? East jumps to 3 clubs. I pass, West corrects to 3 spades, and everyone passes.

I lead the T of clubs.

I wonder why he corrected to spades when he had an extra club. At any rate, T-4-2-A. Declarer draws trump. Q-A-7-4. I fire out my last club. 7-Q-6-3. So much for a ruff. Declarer draws trump. T-J-K-3. 2-4 of diamonds-4 of hearts-6. Partner draws trump. 9-5-2 of hearts-6 of hearts.

Partner shifts to a heart. Q-A-3-8. Declarer shifts to a diamond. 3-5-K-A. Partner shifts to a club. J-K-5 of hearts-8. Declarer is up. Making 3.

Professor Jack agrees with me all the way! Three in a row!

On the replay the bidding is identical. The play is different but it again doesn't matter. Making 3.
